Name: Chan, Kin (Dr. ) Title: Visiting Professor Biography:A seasoned business executive at CxO level with over 20 years of experience in different industries in the US, UK, Hong Kong and China. Significant amount of experience gained in a wide range of industrial and commercial sectors with multi-cultural settings including investment banking, infrastructure, IT & T, hedge fund operations, films and entertainment technologies, and consumer electronics. Founded and took to market a HK start-up high tech company then listed this business on NASDAQ NM (main board) in the US. Previously served as CEO in a Database Technology and a Network Security technology companies. Last position was a senior executive (with Greater China responsibility) in one of largest audio technology and intellectual property (NASDAQ-NM) companies in the world. In-depth practical knowledge and hands-on skills in management; a doctoral degree holder in business administration; a researcher into the impact of Intellectual Capital (IC) to businesses within the sphere of Knowledge Management (KM). In-depth knowledge, understanding and hands-on experience in corporate strategy development and implementation across industries, especially, in intellectual property (IP) based businesses. Strong connections in the industry with VCs, academia, and national technology standards bodies and institutions in mainland China with in-depth experienced in M & A activities and legal due diligence relating to corporate business development and governance in China, Hong Kong and US. |

Name: Chung, Ronald (Dr. ) Title: Visiting Professor Biography:Dr. Ronald Chung is the Managing Partner of EQuity Consulting Co. Ltd. He is an expert in strategy and finance. Upon leaving the academia in 1992, Dr. Chung served as Director of Research for Credit Research Foundation, USA. Among his various projects during his tenure, he worked on the strategic aspects of the deployment and implementation of FEDI between vendors and customers. His clients during this period include P&G, AT&T and Pfizer to name a few. Prior to returning to the Asia Pacific region in 2000, Dr. Chung was a Senior Consultant for Treasury Management Association (now Association for Financial Professionals,) USA. His role at the TMA was to research best practices and design strategy based training programs for senior financial executives in financial institutions and corporations. Dr. Chung has worked for private corporations as well as government organization. He has worked with top-rank universities, including Dartmouth College, Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University, Stanford University and University of Michigan. His consulting experiences include Fortune 500 clients such as AMD, AT&T, Corning, Nokia, P&G, Pfizer, etc., as well as financial institutions such as Bank of Indonesia (Central bank), Barclays Bank, DBS, HSBC, Morgan Stanley, National Bank of Abu Dhabi, Standard Chartered Bank, UBS, BoC (BoD), Bank of Communications, CCB, and CMB. He received his B.A. from Stirling University in the U.K., and his M.B.A. and Ph.D. in finance from Drexel University, USA. Dr. Chung is a Fellow Member as well as the Training Committee member of The Hong Kong Institute of Directors (HKIoD) and an APEC Certified Business Consultant. |

Name: Fung, K. C. (Prof. ) Title: Visiting Professor Biography:K.C. Fung is a co-founder of SCCIE and Professor of Economics at the University of California, Santa Cruz. So far, he has supervised 11 UCSC Ph.D. students. His research areas are in international trade and finance, trade policies, multinational corporations, the WTO and the economics of the Asia/Pacific. He has done influential work on trade and network, trade policies under imperfect competition and the Japanese keiretsu. He has also made substantial contributions to the international economics of China. His work includes the correct measurement of the U.S.-China bilateral trade balance, estimation of the domestic value added and foreign content of Chinese exports as well as trade and investment relationships between China and the United States, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe. He has also contributed to the economics of production sharing and trade in parts and components. Fung was a senior economist at the White House Council of Economic Advisors in both the Bush I and the Clinton administrations and he received a letter of commendation from the U.S. President. He was a U.S. government delegate to the OEDC and was an advisor and academic collaborator at the United States International Trade Commission (USITC). He was a Senior Research Fellow at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and a consultant to the World Bank, the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI, Tokyo), the Asian Development Bank (Manila) and BBVA. He partnered with the WTO and trained senior government officials from thirty-one countries. He also provided management training to senior executives associated with Alcatel and UTStarcom. He has taught at Stanford University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Mount Holyoke College and the University of Hong Kong. At Stanford, he taught a Ph.D. course on trade theory. He was tenured at Mount Holyoke College and he was a visiting scholar/researcher at the University of Tokyo (Japan), Bruegel (Brussels), Tilburg University (Netherlands), The Bank of Finland (Helsinki), Chung Hua Institution of Economic Research (Taiwan) and the National University of Singapore. He is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Hong Kong Institute of Economics and Business Strategy (HIEBS), an Associate Director of the Hong Kong Centre for Economic Research (HKCER) and was an academic consultant to the University of Barcelona, Spain. |

Name: Hout, Thomas (Mr. ) Title: Visiting Associate Professor Biography: Mr Thomas Hout is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at The Flecther School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and Visiting Associate Professor at the School of Business at the University of Hong Kong. He teaches competitive global business strategy and economics, with a specialty in Asia.Mr. Hout spent 30 years at the Boston Consulting Group and was a partner of the firm for 20 years. He worked in the firm’s Boston, London, Tokyo, and Hong Kong offices during that period. He is co-author of two books, including Competing Against Time: How Time-Based Competition Is Reshaping Global Markets , written with BCG colleague George Stalk and Japanese Industrial Policy. He has co-authored seven Harvard Business Review articles on international business subjects, including one forthcoming in the December 2010 issue on the subject of China’s strategy in high technology co-authored with IESE Professor Pankaj Ghemawat. He has written numerous op-ed pieces for New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Boston Globe, and in recent years authored a series of pieces for Asian Wall Street Journal on China’s business competitive development. He is a graduate of Yale University, Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, and is a US Navy Vietnam veteran, and now lives in Boston and Hong Kong. |

Name: Lehmann, Jean-Pierre (Prof. ) Title: Visiting Professor Biography:Jean-Pierre Lehmann is Professor of International Political Economy at IMD and Senior Fellow at the Fung Global Institute (FGI). His areas of special interest include globalization, global governance, trade and development, the role of business in reduction of poverty and inequality and the socio-economic, cultural, and business dynamics of Asia. He acts in various leading capacities in a number of public policy institutes and organizations, as an adviser to governments and corporations, and as a frequent commentator in the international media. He is the author of several books and numerous articles and papers primarily dealing with globalization, modern East Asian history and East Asia and the international political economy. In 1995, Professor Lehmann launched the Evian Group, an international coalition of corporate, government, and opinion leaders, united by a common vision of enhancing global prosperity for the benefit of all by fostering an open, inclusive and equitable global market economy in a rules-based multilateral framework. The Evian Group has developed as a leading global voice on global trade and investment issues that acts as a forum for dialogue and a birth place of ideas; it also engages actively in advocacy to counter the forces of protectionism and chauvinism. Prior to joining IMD, Professor Lehmann’s academic and business careers encompassed activities in virtually all Asian and Western European countries, as well as North America. He was founding director of the European Institute of Japanese Studies (EIJS) at the Stockholm School of Economics (from 1992) and Professor of East Asian Political Economy and Business. He established and directed the East Asian operations of InterMatrix, a London-based business strategy research and consulting organization (1986-1992). During this time he was concurrently Affiliated Professor of International Business at the London Business School. Previously, Jean-Pierre Lehmann was Associate Professor of International Business at INSEAD, Visiting Professor at the Bologna Center (Italy) of the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, twice Visiting Professor and Japan Foundation Fellow at the University of Tohoku (Japan), and founding director of the Center for Japanese Studies at the University of Stirling (Scotland), where he also taught East Asian history. He also directed the EC-ASEAN 'Transfer of Technology and Socio-Economic Development Programs' (1981-1986). |

Name: Morris, Virginia (Ms. ) Title: Visiting Associate Professor Biography: Ms Morris joined The University of Hong Kong in 2009 as a Visiting Associate Professor of the Faculty of Business and Economics. Ms Morris brings a broad corporate marketing background spanning several industries, including retail, food and beverage, airlines, publishing and tourism.As a senior marketing executive of 15 years, Ms Morris understands the demands of an increasingly complex business environment and has extensively used her strategic skills, business acumen and coaching abilities to develop and manage brands across global geographies and cultures. Ms Morris has held senior global and Asia Pacific regional positions with Starbucks Coffee International, The Economist Group, Eye Corp, Air New Zealand, Ansett Australia, Tourism Australia and Cunard Line, among others. Her experience has been invaluable in executing global brands across local geographies, balancing the need for a consistent global brand voice with one that is locally relevant in Asia Pacific. Ms Morris holds a Master of Commerce majoring in International Business and Business Mandarin (MComm, UNSW), supported by a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Marketing and Advanced Japanese Studies (BComm, UNSW). Ms Morris is also a Board Member for KELY Support Group, a School Councillor (Governing Board) for South Island School, a University of Hong Kong Mentor for Undergraduates, and a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors. |

Name: Pakrawan, Karim (Dr. ) Title: Visiting Professor Biography:Karim Pakravan has been a Visiting Associate Professor of Finance at DePaul University since 2008. Prior to that, Pakravan had a 25-year career in global banking and finance. Since rejoining academia, Pakravan had lectured extensively on money and banking, financial management, international finance, and quantitative methods in finance. He has also been teaching a case-based private equity class since 2011. Pakravan’s research has focused on global macro-financial markets and regulation, topics in which he has published several papers since his return to academia. His research in the field is on-going, and he has also maintaining a continued interest in emerging markets, currency markets, global risk management and geopolitics. Pakravan’s outside activities include memberships in the Investment Committee of Advocacy Investing, a Chicago-based socially responsible investment fund, which he advises on macroeconomic and financial issues, the Advisory Board of the Kinsella Group, a middle market investment bank based in Chicago, and the Chicago Council for Global affairs. He is also a member of the International Subcommittee of the Association of Merger & Acquisitions Advisors, and the Editor of the AM&AA’s Global M&A Newsletter. Pakravan is on the board of Social Enterprise Alliance-Illinois Chapter, which focuses on promoting economic development through building community-based entrepreneurship. Pakravan holds B.S in Economics from the University of Geneva, an M.Sc in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics from the London School of Economics and a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago. |

Name: Roberts, Elfed (Mr. ) Title: Visiting Professor Biography: Mr. Elfed Roberts has been working at the University of Hong Kong for over thirty two years and has taught on the MBA and IMBA communications courses and business ethics at both HKU and at Fudan Universities. He is also in charge of the MBA International Field Projects to Europe. He has published widely and has just co-authored a new text on Case Study analysis with particular reference to the PRC which will be published soon. He was also a weekly presenter for ten years on television and is Honorary Professor at the University of Inner Mongolia. |

Visiting Professor
Dr. Yuen has over 20 years of brand-building and marketing management experiences in Hong Kong, China and overseas. He was the Chairman of Ogilvy Hong Kong (2003-2010), a leading communications group that offers integrated marketing communications solutions. Under his leadership, the agency was named the “Agency of the Year” by both Campaign Brief Asia and The Marketing Magazine in the past few years. It had also clinched major honours in the EFFIE Advertising Effectiveness Award for five consecutive years. Dr. Yuen was also the Chairman of The Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of Hong Kong (HK4As) from 2005 to 2010. Dr. Yuen is also an unwavering supporter of community services. Besides being a council member of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), he has also been a key member of the advisory boards for numerous not-for-profit and government bodies, including Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the HKSAR as well as the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Dr. Yuen is also a frequent speaker at marketing conferences and has been invited by HKTDC, InvestHK, as well as the Intellectual Property Department of the HKSAR to promote Hong Kong’s creative sector by delivering talks in various overseas conferences. In addition, Dr. Yuen is also actively involved in the education field. He has taught marketing management at a post-graduate level for over 10 years. At present, he is the Visiting Associate Professor and the Vice-Chairman of the Career Advisory Committee at The University of Hong Kong. He also serves as a committee member for the Education Bureau as well as the Continuing Education Fund of the HKSAR. During his personal time, Dr. Yuen is a regular columnist for several renowned financial publications. He was also invited by Hong Kong ATV to host a TV programme on branding, which enabled him to share his experience with the mass audience. In 2007, Dr. Yuen was awarded the “Hong Kong Top 10 CEO Award” co-organized by Metro Radio Hong Kong and the Zonta Club of Hong Kong. |
