  1. What are the prerequisites for admission?


    Full-time Programme

    HKU MBA in partnerships with London Business School and Columbia Business School/ HKU MBA in China Business Concentration:

    1. Recognised Bachelor's degree
    2. Satisfactory GMAT score
    3. Minimum TOEFL 550 (paper based)/ 80 (Internet based) or IELTS 6.5 band, with no subtest less than 5.5
    4. At least three years of postgraduate full-time work experience

  2. What factors are considered in the admission decision?

    We wil consider the overall assessment of the degree honours/ GPA, work experience, GMAT score, referees' recommendations, personal statement and interview performance. We interview each of our short-listed candidates. Video interviews are conducted for overseas applicants.

     


  3. I am not sure if I need to take the TOEFL.

    An applicant who wishes to be admitted on the basis of a qualification from a university or comparable institution outside Hong Kong where the language of teaching and/ or examination is not English is required to take the TOEFL.

     


  4. How should I take the TOEFL test?

    You should make your own arrangement to take the test. Details and forms are available from the Institute of International Education (Tel: 852-2603-5771) and the International and Professional Examinations Division of the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (Tel: 852-3628-8787).

     


  5. I took the GMAT test a year ago. Is it still valid?

    Test results within five years of application are valid. For example, a score obtained after July 2008 is valid for 2013 admission.

     


  6. How much work experience is required to qualify for admission?
    The normal cut-off is three years of postgraduate full-time work experience. On average, our students have seven to eight years of work experience.

    No industry is favoured over another. Experience in either the private sector or the public sector is considered relevant.

     


  7. What is the HKU MBA code number for the GMAT?

    The HKU code number for the GMAT is FS2-WL-61 (Old Code: 0788) [Institution: University of Hong Kong - School of Business & Economics - MBA/IMBA].

     


  8. What is the HKU code number for the TOEFL?

    The HKU code number for the TOFEL is 9671.

     


  9. How much is the tuition fee?

    Full-time HKU MBA in partnership with London Business School and Columbia Business School/ HKU MBA in China business concentration
    HK$450,000 payable in three instalments over one year and subject to change and final approval of The University of Hong Kong.

    Part-time HKU MBA
    HK$330,000 payable in six instalments over two years and subject to change and final approval of The University of Hong Kong.

     


  10. Are there any scholarships or financial aid?

    Some financial aid is available via scholarships. They are granted to a number of full-time MBA students each year based on individual merits.

    Local students of the MBA Programme in full-time or part-time mode can apply for Non-means Tested Loan Scheme. They can also apply for the Continuing Education Fund for reimbursement of course fee up to a maximum of HK$10,000.

  12. What are the general living costs in London, New York and Shanghai?

  14. What is the status on accreditation?

    The Faculty of Business and Economics is fully accredited by EQUIS (European Quality Information System) and AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business)

     


  15. How can I get my student visa?

    We welcome overseas applicants. Upon successful application, overseas students will need to arrange for their own student visas.
    The Office of the Student Affairs will assist student in obtaining visas. In Hong Kong it is fairly easy to get a student visa. The Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) will act as the local sponsor for international students. For Mainland students the China Affairs Office will be the sponsor. Both these offices will assist students in obtaining visas.
